Policies on how to avail PCSO Aid for Renal Failure Patients

  1. Chronic Renal Failure Patients :
    1. Chronic renal failure patients in Category D are only alloted 10,000 pesos endowment fund for the WHOLE YEAR.
    2. Chronic renal failure in Category C should not be given PCSO aid unless patient is for renal transplant
  2. Acute Renal Failure Patients :
    1. It has been a long established fact, that acute renal failure, irrespective of cause are generally reversible and treatable except for about 5% which will progressed to chronic renal failure.This is in contrast to CRF which will require a lifetime regular dialysis treatment or transplant.
      1. Acute renal failure due to poisoning
      2. Acute renal failure secondary to hypovolemic shock secondary to hemorrhage
      3. Acute renal failure secondary to dehydration due to any cause
      4. Acute renal failure secondary to acute bacterial / viral / parasitic infections and sepsis
      5. Acute obstruction to urine flow due to
        1. stone
        2. cancerous tumor
    2. Due to it's reversibility of the condition as stated above, acute renal failure patient shall be provided assistance by the PCSO until the full recovery of his/her urinary function as assessed by the Nephro consultant and resident in- charge of the unit
    3. ARF patient should be re-evaluated by the resident-in-charge and the Nephro consultant after 3 weeks upon start of the dialysis procedure to see to it that the condition did not progress to a much chronic affair.
    4. Social worker and attending physicians of the ARF patient as well as the Nephro resident assigned at the dialysis unit shall meet and have a case conference during the dialysis procedure of the patient so as to monitor the progress of patient's condition
