Policies On Nurse Trainees And Volunteer :

1. Hemodialysis unit offers a 3 month intensive training in hemodialyis accredited for 382 CPE units.
2. Pre-requisites for applicants who wish to undergo intensive training in hemodialysis must submit the following laboratory results : HbS Ag, anti - HbS, anti- HCV and HIV
3. Trainees must complete the 3 months training period for them to receieve the certificate.
4. The first two months of training shall be more on orientation and preparation of the hemodialysis machine
5. Cannulation of patient's arteriovenous fistula and preparation of arteriovenous shunt should be done on the last month of training with close supervision of the staff.
6. In cases wherein the trainee will undergo only one month of training , he will be exposed primarily in the preparation of machine but still with close supervision, however, cannulation of AV fistula is strictly prohibited. Only certificate of attendance will be issued.
7. Volunteer nurse is not allowed to cannulate patient's vascular access.
8. Must wear the proper hemodialysis unit attire.
